"Hey everyone, here is a list of things I share with people who are wanting to lose weight and get in shape.

What do you think?

80% of Americans at any given time admit to wanting to lose weight. Statistically 95% of these people will fail. Make sure you are asking the right questions when choosing your next weight loss program.

1. Does the program focus on “Weight Loss” or “Fat Loss”?
a. If the focus is not “fat loss” be careful. Remember taking of your shoes will make you weigh less, but it will not make you less fat.
b. Weight loss alone usually means loss of lean body mass, this is a concern because your lean body mass is your fat burning machinery if you are losing that it will be harder to burn fat.

2. Does the program follow the Three Rules of Nutrition?
a. Eat every 2-3 hours (this will keep your metabolism going strong all day)
b. Eat the right ratios 50-60% Carbs 20-30% Protein 20% fat
- If you mess with these ratios your body will react by storing fat and burning lean body mass.
c. Eat at the right times- More calories when you need more energy and less calories when you need less energy.
- The Sumo diet is starve all day and then eat a big meal right before going to sleep
- It is much smarter to spread your calories out through the day 

3. Does the program change consistently to prevent plateaus?
a. Our bodies are designed to adapt to the stress we put on them if the program is not changing constantly your body will adjust and your results will plateau

4. Does the program focus on calorie cutting as apposed to building lean body mass?
a. Cutting calories alone will slow your metabolism and cause your body to burn lean mass instead of fat.
b. You will lose weight and some of it will be fat, but most will be lean mass.

5. Does the program have a consistent method of holding you accountable?
a. It is easy to be motivated when you are seeing great results and everything is going well, but when things get hard will the program hold you to your goal, or are you forced to go it alone.
b. Family can be a good source of support, but they are also often the reason people don’t succeed.

6. Is this program worth the money you are paying for it?
a. At first $24 for a weight loss book seems like a great deal, but if you don’t get the results you want, or worse if it puts you into a yo-yo pattern and causes you to gain weight then that $24 dollars was wasted"
